No More Red Chairs!

It's official!
No more red chairs in our kitchen.

(Did I mention that these 2 chairs with the rush seats were purchased
at the Goodwill several years ago for $8 each....I believe I'm getting my moneys worth!)

I'm not complaining (well, maybe a little), but this job wasn't a lot of fun.
I think it had something to do with all the spindles, the detail, the nooks and crannies, ugh!

The color is called "whole wheat".

It was actually a sample from our exterior house
painting job we had done a few months ago.

It looks pretty dull here.

Once I added some glaze (a.k.a. brown house paint used in kitchen/family room),
the chair began to have a little more character.

How do you like the cream and wheat combination?

I like how it looks against the wood flooring.

A Sweet Shot and A Sweet Day

Last Friday, I spent 3 hours here!

I was lucky enough to be invited to share the day with 6 other ladies.
Two friends had purchased the wine tasting/lunch package
at our kids school auction last year.

We were at Stoller Vineyards in Dayton, OR - wine country outside of Portland, OR.

The weather and the scenery were perfect for relaxing and sipping wine.

Majestic Mount Hood
(can you see it at the top of the photo?)

All the wines were wonderful!

Cheers!

Shedding the red

We had our downstairs floors re-done in December click here.
I love the floors but they have a lot of red in them which made our
red sofa, red kitchen chairs, red walls (opposite wall from this picture) etc,
a little too much red for me to live with.

First thing we did was paint the walls in the family room.  They went from a
golden yellow to a chocolate brown, and we moved the red sofa upstairs to the bonus room. The curtains got a re-vamp too...see below.

(old room)

We purchased a new sofa in khaki and a new rug to lighten up the room.  I also took
down the gold/plaid curtains I had made and kept about 15" of the fabric to add
to some cream colored, store bought, curtains from Target.

My goal is to have the rooms be more
neutral with browns and creams.

Next project was the adjacent kitchen table.
Went from black to cream colored.
