My sewing machine!
I haven't used it for a big project in a long time, but today I got it out and we
spent the day getting re-aquainted while I made this.
I've been anxious to try my hand at printing something onto fabric. This is a nest that I downloaded from the internet. The fabric is inexpensive Unbleached Natural Osnaburg. I ironed the fabric to the sticky side of freezer paper, then cut out a piece 8 1/2" x 11 to fit perfectly in my printer, hit 'print' and voila'. The freezer
paper peels right off.
I decided to do the backside of the pillow like a sham, with an overlap closure.
Right now it's in the entry with my new pillow from Home Goods.
I'm partying with:
Lovely!! I have never tried this....but I shall! Thanks for this post!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea. Your pillow came out beautifully.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that's it! You are just too good... I don't think we can be friends anymore:)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, great job, Petie! Can't wait to see what you do next.
This is so pretty. I love the idea of framing it out with the burlap. You have me wanting to print out a picture on fabric now :)
ReplyDeleteThis is too pretty! You are a great seamstress. I am dying to try printing on fabric, but I'm too chicken!

Oh girl, You did a super gorgeous job on that little pillow, I love it. I adore the graphic, somehow I just don't understand how that is done, though.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Your pillow is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI adore this!!!
ReplyDeleteI won a blue ribbon for sewing at the county fair when I was in the 8th grade. I decided to retire while I was at the top of my game. : ) This makes me regret that decision!
I had to chuckle at your comment on your last post about getting on with your life after taking care of your kids. My daughter is now 20 and away at college. I was up until 1 AM last night and again until midnight tonight because she needed help with a couple of papers. It doesn't matter how old your kids are...you never really get your life back!
Oh, I love this! I've got to ear-mark this and come back to be sure I understand about printing on the paper. This looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHi! just found your blog from hopping around and I love your pillow. I am going to begin my first one soon!! Did you use a pattern or just make this up??
ReplyDeleteLove the blog-
lynn

Awesome girlie,
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it!
I'm a sucker for birds
and have a lot scattered
in different ways around
my own abode : ) I'm
also getting reacquainted
with my machine this week,
as my mom is visiting and
we are tackling a few projects.
Hope you are having a
wonderful weekend, Petie!
xx Suzanne
