Toilet Paper Roll Tip of the Day

Probably the biggest pet peeve I have is CORDS (and the "catch all" that is the kitchen island)!

I thought we had solved part of our charger station cord problem last year when we drilled a hole in the kitchen desk, allowing cords to run from the outlet directly to a drawer where things would be hidden.

You see we have one of these poorly placed outlets above the kitchen
 desk...what was the builder thinking?

So, we have a charger station in the desk drawer, but the cord chaos in the drawer was becoming a stress factor for me (and kids who sometimes managed to plug the wrong charger in a device) - enter the labeled toilet paper roll.

Attractive?  No.

But it works!

Above the desk, I do my best to hide the ugly cord hole.

Overall look.

In our next home, I will be looking for all outlets to be no higher than 12" from the floor!

Do you have any pet peeves that you're constantly trying to control?

  1. Generally around the home, my outlets are 12 inches from floor. But in kitchen and bath at counter level. I too have a thing about cords!!!! ohmygoodness! They are everywhere. Lamps, phones, all the electronics ( they multiply while we sleep) .....
Glad to see I am NOT the only one with a cord issue.

  2. You are so clever! I swear our builder was an idiot. There is a code that a plug has to be 6 feet in or something like that. I have plugs in all the rooms that can't be hidden by a bed or nightstand! It drives me insane!!! All the nightstands (except for ours) have cords on the side plugged in and of course they are the first thing you see when you walk in. I have so many things for when I build my dream home!!!
